Getting Relevant Traffic to Your Finance Website

Want to generate traffic to your financial website? thats understood. Who wouldn’t want that? After all, without traffic, you will not be able to gain traction for your site or blog. The truth is that getting traffic to your website is easy. Within a day or so, you could be flooded with traffic.

What do you prefer, 100 people visiting your website looking for finance-related information, or the average 5,000 people who don’t know the stock symbol from a hieroglyph? You probably selected 100 relevant visitors.

Maybe you can brag to your friends that your website got 5000 visitors. But bragging rights do little to build a long-term financial site, as people visit it more often. This is a true test of a successful financial site (or any website, for that matter), how many people come back! How many people subscribe to your newsletter? And the truest “real test” is how many people buy products or services from you?

How to get relevant traffic

Before you make your fingers bleed when writing a bunch of useless articles or blog posts on your blog, take a step back and ask what you want to achieve with it. What are your goals for your website? You should not proceed without crafting this basic information. Otherwise, you’ll be shooting in the dark, randomly picking topics that won’t make much difference in generating any traffic, let alone targeted traffic.

After you understand your goals for the site, ask yourself who you want to visit. You will read about phrases like customer avatars, target customers, etc. Whatever it is called, it is a way to determine the demographics of your website.

You can get this information by checking who is visiting your competitors. Find a competitor’s Twitter profile and visit their Twitter feed. Find out who follows that company or site. These people are part of your target market. You can do this same exercise with any social media platform.

Don’t get too caught up in the demographics. You can improve the process later. Just get an initial sense of who you think would be the best target audience you want to visit your website.

Is the financial blogging field too competitive?

There are thousands upon thousands of financial websites and blogs out there. In another year, there will be thousands and thousands more. It makes you wonder if it is worth continuing to maintain a finance related website.

Here is the good news. Just because there are thousands of websites dedicated to financial topics, most of them are junk. These websites contain sales promotions, or contain frivolous content that drives visitors away. If you can rise above this rubbish and give your readers what they want, you will open the floodgates not just for traffic but for beautiful, targeted traffic. It’s the kind of traffic bloggers dream of, but most don’t get to.

Create great financial content

To keep yourself away from the digital scum, you need to create content that wows your readers. it is necessary. Otherwise, your finance site will be like the rest, lost in a virtual abyss!

The big question today is how do you create great content? It can’t just be good. It must be great. Now for some bad news – it won’t be stellar when you start out. Let’s face it; Most people aren’t very good writers or content creators. It takes practice like anything else.

One way to speed up content creation is to emulate what the top bloggers are doing. This does not mean copying it word for word. You want to get to know the style and feel of their websites and customize that to your own.

What about keywords and SEO?

Bloggers are very familiar with keyword terms and SEO. Keyword appropriately means the keywords your target market will use to find the information they are looking for. SEO is a little trickier for beginners. It is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. They are technologies that are supposed to help search engines learn what your content is about.

The biggest problem with these two concepts is that they change all the time. The Master of the Search Engine Universe (Google) changes these rules as do other less important search engines. What worked two years ago can put your website in the search engine Neverland.

One of the key concepts that has withstood every change made by search engines is content quality. In other words, don’t worry too much about keywords or SEO. Write only from the heart and do it constantly. Write what you think will be of value to your readers. nothing else!

Another popular tactic is to get other biz bloggers to guest post on your blog or website. It is preferable to choose people who rise in the ranks of influence. Although these influencers are competitors, the web works best when everyone works together to give readers the best possible value. Everyone wins when this happens, even all of the competitors involved.

If you don’t have time to create content but still want to generate quality traffic to your website, consider outsourcing this task. You may have to go through a few outsourcers to find the ones that will do a great job for you. But once you find them, as long as you are willing to keep them happy ($$$), you don’t have to keep looking for them.

On that note, don’t skimp on price when looking for a good writer. They qualify for a reason. If you live on the bottom of the fish, you will be constantly on the lookout for new writers. When you find a good writer and pay him or her a poor rate, it doesn’t take long for him or her to find another better paying client.
